Porte de Paris

It was a lovely sunny morning, and we went for a walk  to an area of Lille that we've never been to before.  We found the Porte de Paris which is one of the gates of the ancient ramparts of the town, that was  reconstructed at the end of the 17th century to celebrate the victory of Louis XIV.

We then wandered back into the centre of town and had sandwich for lunch before heading back to the Eurotunnel.  The roads were really quiet and we got to the tunnel an hour early and managed to get straight on a train.

We left France in sunshine and came out of the tunnel to heavy rain.  It's amazing how different it can be when Calais to Dover is only 21 miles!

It's been a lovely weekend, but we're both tired, so it's time for an early night!
