View From Market Street.

Looking towards Sidney Street, one of the busiest shopping streets in Cambridge, which follows the alignment of the old Roman Road. Formerly known as Conduit Street due to a system along there, piping water to the Franciscan Friary, Sidney  Sussex college rose from it's ruins in 1596.  The buildings housing the shops are Jacobean Revival and Neo-Classical .style. In all the years I've lived here, this is the first time I've looked above the shop windows !  Some unusual roof tiles and I see 'Gary' has climbed up to write his name there ! On the right is the 12th C  Holy Trinity church and the wide paved corner is a popular busking spot.
