My Christmas

So much television to watch, but the machine remains in the off position.

The deluge of 'top' TV over the Christmas period has always presented me with an irony. At a time of year when we should all be with our families, celebrating, and doing that old fashioned thing of actually speaking to one another, there is all the television thrown at us. Is this designed to stop us talking to one another?

What I find most strange is how the BBC and ITV compete on putting on the best films or other programmes on Christmas Day, just when people are sitting round the table enjoying their Christmas lunch. Should we all just stop eating, or even worse, eat of Christmas pudding off our knees? Surely not.

So, the Radio Times is JAM PACKED with programmes for our viewing pleasure, but the TV, for me, remains generally in the off position.

Unless Goldfinger is on, of course.
