Stuart - a life backwards

'You can’t explain me. Spagger. Victim. Attacker. Addict. Lover. Priest. I am one of those sorts who is impossible to explain.’

I read this book 8 years ago with Bookgroup, saw the film 5 years ago and went today to the (as yet unpublished) play in Cambridge put on by university students.  More here.

It was fantastic - so fantastic I forgot to take a photo!  The production was really impressive, lighting and set, the script picking up the key aspects of the novel and all characters totally convincing with Ben Leitch as Stuart particularly wonderful!

At the end, unexpectedly, the producer Tom Bevan, author of the book Alexander Masters, Manager of Jimmy's in Cambridge Barry, and Stuart's sister Zoe and Mum were there to chat, reinforcing the challenge to pre-conceptions about homelessness.  It really was a great night out.

I saw this unexpected 'decoration' in Pocket Park and somehow it seemed appropriate for this blip.  Something to do with being messy, and misunderstood, but also worthwhile....
