Gathering for the baaaarber

We left the Catlins area this morning and after stopping for bush walk out to Papatowhai beach (extra), headed to Balclutha and then up Highway 8, alongside the mighty Clutha river, all the way to the pretty little town of Wanaka on Lake Wanaka. We will be based here for the next 4 nights.
This time of the year is busy for farmers, sheep are being shepherded down to the sheds for their annual wool cut. Along the way are lots of fruit stalls for this area of NZ is famed for it's stone fruits. We stopped at a stall and bought some delicious, freshly picked apricots, nectarines and plums. Fruit salad for breakfast will be the order of the day after having curry for breakfast just last week.
