No 127: Yellow-legged gull

This bruiser brings me a step nearer to my target of 150 by the year's end. He is apparently responsible for the lack of breeding success this year of the little grebes, and terrorises even the other gulls. He seems to have a big chunk missing from either wing. We had a very pleasant day out in the sunshine at Carsington Water in Derbyshire. It was pretty busy as people were making the most of a fine day after the bank holiday washout. but fairly quiet around the bird hide areas. We saw lots of heron, great crested grebe and cormorant, and what was probably a buzzard, but sadly no sign of ospreys or marsh and willow tits.
