Words of kindness

"For attractive lips, speak words of kindness
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry
For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you'll never walk alone
We leave you a tradition with a future
The tender loving care of human beings will never become obsolete
People even more than things have to be restored, renewed, revived,, reclaimed, and redeemed and redeemed and redeemed
Never throw out anybody
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm
As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands:
One for helping yourself
The other for helping others
Your "good old days" are still ahead of you, many you have many of them.
- Audrey Hepburn 1992

A morning of observing committees at work.  Half day conference,  after lunch I took our kids (22 of them) to the Gemeente Museum, something I do every year. Den Haag is so wise, there is no charge for school groups, so students are easily encouraged to explore the world of Art - for half an hour or half a day.  This year the special exhibition is "To Audrey with love" (link to Gemeente museum here) and is an exhibition of Givenchy designs for and worn by Audrey Hepburn - and as always with this favourite museum,  beautifully curated.  I'll upload some extra pics later.  Several pertinent quotes on the walls too, of which the 'words of kindness' quote above seems particularly relevant today and all these days.  Other temporary exhibitions include Rinus Van De Velde and Alice Neel.  Annual inspection of the permanent Mondrian and De Stijl, Delft pottery, and paintings by Picasso, Monet, and so on... in all, clocked up 12,000 + steps by the time I walked back to the hotel feeling satiated and content.

In the evening, Robin and I went to the beach area of Den Haag - a first for me.  Bitterly cold and icy rain briefly, but lovely to see the sea !!

Final Daily step total  14,061 = 9.75 km
