I don't know why, but I am always a little amazed that for a quid, you can buy a bunch of what look like overgrown spring onions, take them home and stick them into a vase of water and in a couple of days you have an explosion of Spring-like yellowness and a roomful of heady aroma. The first daffs of the year; seems like good value to me.
