By the shore.

A quiet morning scene by the edge of the Kent Estuary.

Relaxing and peaceful but my regular followers won't be surprised that it prompts me to ask queations.

In particular I became interested in why there are ripples all over the sand. Are new ones formed after every tide? Are they identical to those appearing after previous tides?
Are there times when the same area of sand is perfectly smooth?
Wikipedia and Google searches led me to articles in the Scientific American and elsewhere. It soon becomes obvious that this is a very complex set of questions on which even academic hydrologists do not entirely agree.
If I had another lifetime I might look into it in detail.
