Red squirrel sightings

Today was the last full day of our annual trip to the slopes. The weather was poor and the visibility worse. After two major neck ops and a knee reconstruction I am no longer prepared to risk injury for the sake of an extra couple of hours skiing so after a short ski we opted to go for a walk on one of the many well signed and maintained winter walking trails. We were rewarded with at least five red squirrel sightings - more than I have seen in 50+ years in the U.K.! The little chap in the picture was quite audacious and ran up a man's leg to be hand-fed. Definitely less timid than their UK cousins.

This was our first ski trip to Switzerland. For pure skiing Austria remains my favourite place but Arosa is a lovely all-round winter resort. The skiing is good but the winter walking trails are excellent and extensive. In addition there's lots of tobogganing slopes, ice sports and even horse racing on the frozen lake. You can see the race track in the extras picture.
