RISK Legacy 5

5th episode in our RISK Legacy campaign, started for the second time with the draw cards that had to be chosen : faction (Imperial Balkania, Khan Industries, Saharan Republic, Die Mechaniker, Enclave of the Bear), n° of coin cards (0, 0, 1, 1, 2), turn to play (1 to 5), turn to start putting your faction on the board (1 to 5) and n° of starting troops (6, 8, 8, 10, 10). I'll spare you the details, but we ended up as this (in playing turn order) : Tarek in Southeast Asia (with his major city Tarkopolis) with Khan Industries, Kobe in Scandinavia with the Saharan Republic, Hannes in Argentina with the Imperial Balkania, me in South Africa with The Enclave of the Bear and Leander in Western United States with Die Mechaniker. Leanders placement in Western United States is important, because it's the only resource card that holds 4 coins (for the moment). When the mission card that allows for the founding of the world capital is on top in this game (which it was), and someone is eligible to draw the 4-coin resource card, the world capital is a fact (I'll come back to this later).
Some interesting information about this game : Tarek was left alone in Australia, and gained a lot of troops very fast (each turn 1 extra troop for his faction, his major city is on a mercenary scar, so 1 extra troop each turn). the coin cards pile was depleted for the first time Tarek controled the most territories, so he gained a red star token. I was left alone in Africa by the rest. Hannes attacked Leander with a lot of troops in Central America very early in the game. This being right next to Leanders HQ and on an ammo shortage scar (-1 on highest die when defending) he decided to wipe him out. Well, that was the plan, the result was Leander with 4 troops on 4 territories. As Leander was first ideally placed for founding the world capital (if that territory card surfaced quickly), his weakened state now attracted all the other players. He even tried to help others trying to wipe him out (they could get hold of his resource cards, and he could get a fresh start in Asia), even using his missiles (1 die turns into a natural 6) to his own disadvantage to get there. He ended up with 1 troop because I used my missile to his advantage (hehehe).
It ended with me buying a red star (4 resource cards) and a rush past Scandinavia (Kobes HQ) to try and rake Leanders HQ... there were 4 troops to many in my path. On top of that when I took my resource card, the next card turned and it was the 4-coin card of Western United States. This was all Tarek needed to wipe out Leander, take his HQ, and found the world capital (worth 2 red stars) in this territory, winning the game with 5 red stars. Big surprise (not), the world capital lies in North America, and he named it Trumpistan (it had to be something like that).
As winner he also founded the major city of Mattaprice (Price is Leanders last name) in Kamchatka. Kobe, Hannes and me taped an extra coin to 3 territory cards. Leander being wiped out did nothing.
The founding of the world capital allowed us to open up another sealed envelope which contained some new rules and private missions. these are shuffeled with the other missions, but if you complete one, and you have a red space left on your faction card, you can put it there permanently, so it becomes a private mission for that faction, gaining a red star on completion. Private missions are :
1. Control the world capital and 3 major cities (tough)
2. Control all the bunker and mercenary territories (tough)
3. Knock out or eliminate a player who has 3+ resource cards (not so tough)
4. When recruiting troops, turn in 10+ resource for troops (just wait for it)
5. When recruiting troops, turn in at least 2 territory cards that have 4+ resources each (not possible yet)
6. Control 2 continent at the start of your turn (possible).
Not easy at all, I can't imagine these all being on the faction cards when we played our 15 games (more fun later on).
We now have the introduction of the lead faction (the faction that has won the most games, no tie), this faction (now, Khan Industries, won 2 times) choose which mission card is face up at the start of the game and starts in the world capital (lucky bastard), receiving 3 additional troops here.
Every one will want to have this faction now... there are however a lot of scars in and just outside of North America...
