Empire Biscuit

Had a conversation yesterday with fellow blipper Kate64 about her recent visit to Glasgow. Empire biscuits were discussed, she had never had one before. I visited my mum today and one of her neighbours appeared with a tub of assorted home baking, including mini empire biscuits! Had one with a cuppa, delicious!

Just read the Wikipedia version, I have to disagree with the biscuit type (shortbread) suggested and the glacé cherry top. To be fair, there are probably loads of versions, but I'm pretty sure I have never had one that was a shortbread biscuit or cherry topping, they have a jelly tot style sweet on top. :-)
