I took no photos today but on hearing about plans to overhaul the anomalies in train fares I decided to blip my tickets.
There are so many different fares for the same route and it can be time consuming trying to find the cheapest option. On my frequent visits to see my parents it is often cheaper to buy ‘split tickets’ instead of just one for the return journey. The previous or following trains can often be considerably more but fortunately the preferred time of my journey home is among the cheapest and as I have a Railcard and can book in advance it works out cheaper.
One traveller posted a picture of his split tickets from Newcastle to Oxford last weekend and had 56 tickets so saving £56.
When a businessman discovered last week that he could travel from Lancaster to London return for £92.20 instead of travelling from Preston for £356 he decided it made sense to drive an extra ten minutes to Lancaster.   But a ticket inspector accused him of boarding the train at Preston and told him to pay another £356 and when he refused he was met by police in London and detained for half an hour until it was confirmed on CCTV that he really had got on at Lancaster.
It seems bizarre that the 228 mile journey from Preston cost £356 while the 253 mile journey from Lancaster cost £92.20 return.

For those who need to buy a ticket in a hurry or for foreign tourists it must be quite expensive to travel by our trains.
