High pressure

Weather got much colder today, and we got blue skies after many cloudy dull days. The picture is from Pirkkala ice hockey rink near Pirkkala Sports hall. The painting on the box wall has caught my eyes, finally also blipped :)

Today is an international Sámi National Day, which celebrates Sámi ethnic minorities and their culture. The Sami are the only indigenous people of Scandinavia recognised and protected under the international conventions of indigenous peoples, and are hence the northernmost indigenous people of Europe. Estimated 137,000 people in the world are Sámi. The highest populations are in Norway and Sweden, with a large extant population of some 30,000 people living in the United States. The Finnish Sámi population is estimated to be just under 10,000 people, and less than 2,000 people within the Russian Federation. In Finland there are Skolt Sámis and Inari Sámis.

-10°C, sunny
