Driving towards Elterwater, I caught a few glimpses of the Langdale Pikes with patches of cloud still lingering and sunlight catching the snow.

The camera was in the passenger footwell so I was ready to pull into the parking space just beyond the cattle grid. Unfortunately someone in front of me had the same idea and his parking left little space for another car behind.  By the time I’d manoeuvred in, the good light had gone and after firing off a few shots the cloud drifted away too.

A minute earlier and todays blip could have been so different.
