City of the Dead

Research for my next book took me today to the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, which probably plays host to the most illustrious roll call of dead celebrities anywhere in the world - Balzac, Maria Callas, Chopin, Delacroix, Isadora Duncan, Modigliani, Molière, Yves Montand, Jim Morrison, Edith Piaf, Gertrude Stein, and many, many others. Oscar Wilde's tomb is protected by glass, but as you will see in my "extra", that didn't stop fans from planting red lipstick kisses all over it. This vast cemetery really is the city of the dead.
