One flue over the roof

A few weeks ago the flue of our gas boiler fell off for no real reason, except maybe that it had been bodged up in the past like many things in this house!

It took a while for the plumber to get the part as the boiler's quite old, but he came today and fitted it and we'll shortly know if we can fire the boiler up again! It will be good to get the central heating going again!

Update.

Everything was put back and the boiler fired up. Ten minutes later there was a flash and a pop and it went off, blowing all the fuses. Plumber thinks that the circuit board is buggered and phoned Baxi for a chat. They say it will have been caused by something else, so recommend replacing the board and then it can be tested to find out what's wrong.  This is the last straw and I have to pay for fitting a brand new flue which is now worthless.

I'm not spending any more - we've already had a new pump and a new pressure switch and that's that. I've been on to the Scottish Government about their Energy Efficiency Programme to see if we're eligible for a new boiler on the house - and in the house. So now we pour coal into the stove and switch on electric fires and sit with hot water bottles on our laps - Grrr!
