Isola Bella

Backblipped for 27th June

As our host recommended, we paid a visit to Isola Bella (originally Isola Isabella), to see the magnificent mansion and terraced gardens constructed in the C17 for the Borromeo family. The scale and elegance of every room is staggering and, of course, photographs are not allowed - so, like everyone else, I sneaked a few while the guides weren't looking - it was too luxurious not to take a reminder (I mean, it has seven grottoes, each bigger than my dining room!). This is the Great Hall.

We then took the ferry across to Isola Pescatore, which retains its rocky origins, to stroll and take in the atmosphere.
