Unusual bench

Today I spent a pleasant couple of hours investigating Grange-over-Sands. It was a cold and very grey day which didn't really lend itself to shooting landscapes. Grange has lovely views across the Kent estuary towards Arnside and Silverdale but today everything paled into greyness.

For a small town it has some surprising features. An ornamental duck pond with an impressive array of varieties. Based on their display today I think the bar-headed geese are most probably the stupidest waterfowl I have come across. Despite their size they were unable to get the better of the gulls when it came to grabbing the food provided. Other varieties included pintails, eider, ruddy duck, pochard and the ever present mallard. The traffic-free promenade is lovely with a plant border along its length and a large number of very decorative benches. I think the red creature is supposed to be a squirrel though the ears look more like those of a rabbit. The rather aggressive looking creature adorning the arm rest is rather unwelcoming.
