BP Portrait Award 2017

Visited the BP Portrait Award 2017 at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Queen Street today. The sheer quality of the artwork amazes me every year, absolutely stunning portraits.

The BP Portrait Award is the most prestigious portrait painting competition in the world and represents the very best in contemporary portrait painting. With a first prize of £30,000, and a total prize fund of £61,000, the Award is aimed at encouraging artists to focus upon and develop portraiture in their work.

The portrait above is Jean 2015 by Jean-Paul Tibbles.

Please go and check it out, currently in Edinburgh, and at the National Portrait Gallery in London between June to September this year.
