Enjoying the scenery

Today we more or less inadvertently ended up going around the classic Golden Circle with all the other tourists. We drove north out of Reykjavik onto road 36, not quite realising this would take us across quite a high plateau (Mossfell I believe). The winds up there were unbelievable, when I took the photo in the extras I could barely get out of the car!

After spending some time at Þingvellir, a real wind tunnel on a day like this, we moved on to Geysir and then Gullfoss. At that point the weather was getting plain ridiculous so we soon gave up on any efforts to do any photography as, as soon you got the camera out the lens was covered in rain and there was no chance of holding the camera still, never mind using a tripod.

Despite this we had a nice day out - and luckily no snow storms on the way back.

Dinner was had at Mat Bar, right next to the hotel. We only went because it was close, looked really nice and it had been quite busy on Saturday night. It turned out to be a new restaurant which opened 10 days ago and the food was amazing! The concept was sharing plates and the flavours, service and people were all fantastic. We can absolutely recommend it.
