Despite the weather we were determined to get down to Eyemouth. It's only around 45 minutes from the house but somehow feels further away. Perhaps because of the high seas the harbour was full and it was great to see all the large fishing boats.

We wanted to see the newish sculpture of the widows and children left behind after the fishing disaster in 1881. It is a wonderful piece of work and seeing it in the teeth of a storm makes it all the more evocative .
