Gloucester Cathedral

In Gloucester this weekend for an Owl Evening at the International Centre for Birds of Prey.

We spent the day in the city walking round the quay and cathedral. The photo is a spectacular lecturn.

The architecture of the cathedral is spectacular and it is a very welcoming place. The cafe is worth a stop too.

In the evening we went to the Owl Evening in nearby Newent. It is run by a very down to earth and plain speaking lady who, when we arrived, seemed delighted by the rugby result.

The owl evening took the form of a guided tour round the aviaries before an outdoor flying display of a couple of larger owls and finally and indoor flying display of the smaller species.

I did take a few photos of the fantastic snowy owl display. Of course I didn't use flash so the conditions for good photos were far from ideal. A couple of the photos of the bird perching on a stand were okay but those in flight were unsurprisingly a bit blurry. It was a shame but to be honest I was more interested in watching than in taking photos anyway.

So, it might not be a photo of the birds we came to Gloucester to see but it is a photo of an impressive bird of prey. And it's been a good day.

Off to Swansea for work tomorrow. Spending 3 days in a warehouse. Have to see what photo opportunities that provides.
