Orange ice cream

We rarely have puddings at home, or when out if it comes to that. Neither of us is really that bothered about sweet stuff. However, when we go to our favourite local place – The Bridge on the A66 at Kirkby Thore – now that’s a different matter altogether. Every dessert is delicious – I think we’ve tried them all over the time we’ve been going there! This was an orange cheesecake with the best orange ice cream I have ever tasted.

Having spent the morning sorting out, making beds and generally preparing the house for our visitors, we decided to go out for Sunday lunch. We love this place -  I’m sure I must have mentioned it before. It was once a rather seedy pub that was empty and for sale for a long time, before this couple bought it and transformed it into a comfortable, yet stylish, café bistro. They work hard to keep the standard of the food high and prices reasonable, so it was nice today to see it full of local people. On a grim day in February before half term, when there would be few visitors around, that’s not bad going.
   
Now we await our travellers, wishing them a safe, safe journey.
