Peacock Butterfly

An unexpected arrival in the garden although I did spot one last month as well. According to the field guide peacock butterflies are widespread and common but they are normally seen between March to September  and it is unlikely to see them from October to February. Although the sun was out it was cold and windy so it was quite a surprise.
