Vienna regulator

There are many styles of wall hanging Vienna regulators.  The best are weight driven which makes them more accurate as the power, unlike a spring, is constant all week. This one is made by Gustav Becker probably in the late 19th century.  A regulator clock was the most accurate in the house and would be used to set the other clocks by.  It has what is called a Graham deadbeat escapement, more accurate than a recoil escapement.  If you look at the second hand of a longcase clock, it will normally recoil or 'bounce' a little on each second.  A deadbeat seconds hand does not do this and this improves its accuracy.
I spent all day in the shop by myself and was rushed off my feet with it being Valentine's day.  I shall nownip up the tower for half an hour's bell ringing before finishing preparations for another trip to Wales.
