Highs and Lows

We managed to get out of the hotel for 8am, our plan today is to get to the Eiffel tower. Thinking 8am would be early enough, we were kind of wrong. By the time we got there the queue to buy tickets had snaked it's way out of the park and down the road, easily a mile long.

The sun came out and started frazzling those without sun lotion on. I'm glad i took mine, i'd have resembled a lobster with stroke. We waited, and waited, and waited......the line shuffled slowly forward....and on....and..on.... THREE HOURS later we managed to buy a ticket and join another queue for the elevator up, this time people were just pushing their way to the front, so very rude. We eventually got up the tower, waited another half an hour to get the lift to the very top, then waited about 30-45 minutes to get the lift down.

As beautiful as the view from the top was, it wasn't worth the wait! I just can't justify putting yourself through that for about 30mins-1hour on top of the thing. I think older or younger people would really struggle. But perhaps it was so bad because we wen't in the middle of summer.

We managed to squeeze in a trip to the Musee D'Orsay afterwards and some much deserved ice-cold pints of ginger flavour beer and cocktails at the pub near our hotel.
Exhausted.
