Freshly caught

What a lovely, lovely day! Woke up and looked out of the window onto a lawn covered with dew (is this a sign that summer is drawing to and end in the South Island? surely not). On the lawn was a group of my fav birds - pukeho, they all rushed off when they saw me. Whilst having breakfast a family of quail -two adults and two little ones noddled their way over patio and off into the bushes.
We decided to go salmon fishing in the Anatoki lake, l love doing this. Poor fishing today but ended up with 900 gram salmon. Now this is the neat bit, we took it up to the cafe on the lake and they filleted it and then whilst we had a coffee they hot smoked it - lemon and pepper flavour. This is our supper tonight along with freshly picked avocado and goats cheese we bought from the farm along the way. The blip today is Anatoki Lake and salmon, the extra is the pukeho.
A lazy walk along the beach this afternoon and nod off over a book afterwards.
