Farming on terraces

Another excellent walk this morning (though not the one we intended) which took us past these beautiful terraced farms on the sides of the hills. The extras are what was being grown - almonds, oranges and olives. You can see where the terrace walls have washed away in the winter rains. It must be hard to maintain them but in the main they look pretty well perfect. The almond blossom was looking its best today. The citrus groves too, with orange blossom starting to flower and smell so lovely. The olive trees were being pruned. Some of them are very old and gnarled but they still bear fruit.

Back in the Port we had another leisurely lunch, sitting outside again. A further walk at the end of the afternoon and that's 19,969 steps so I'd better get out and do the missing 31 later!
