Mercer's Battery, Royal Horse Artillery.

As my camera had stayed resolutely in its case all day, I had a bit of a fossik about in the garage this evening for a blip subject. Hidden away in two boxes are some of my old hand painted model soldiers.
this is a rather simplistic set up of an RHA nine pounder gun of Mercers Battery from the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Commander Cavalie Mercer had five of these plus a 5.5 inch howitzer, 80 gunners, 86 drivers and 226 horses with which to sting Old Boney's army. And the history books tell that despite Lord Wellington's misgivings, the RHA stung good and hard.
Thus endeth today's lesson.
