The night of the baby toads

After a wet day T and K managed to leave the backdoor open when they went out this evening. Just as I was closing it, having put the light on, there was a movement on the floor, something small was creeping along the tiles - a baby toad about an inch long! Not only was there one baby, there were several, in fact about seven of them by the time I had looked under Wellington boot and shoes and had carried them out carefully into a damp sheltered spot in the garden. They were so small and sweet. Toads have a habit of wandering around the outside doors of houses and I love them. I just hope I managed to clear every one of this little bunch out as they die inside with the warm dry air.

Apologies for not having blipped recently, all is well here except for the weather. We still have 80% of our harvest to finish if there is anything left at the end of the day. All in all it is rather depressing. T has been catching up renewing the fences around the fields while the standing corn gets blown down and loses its quality, that is all he can do.

The forecasters say that the weather is supposed to be getting dryer, let's hope they are right!
