Walkers were enjoying the amazing scenery of Winnat's Pass in Derbyshire despite the cool damp weather with remains of snow lying just above. At one time it was believed that the valley was formed by a collapsed cavern in the limestone but now is thought to have been a ravine between two coral reefs that originally formed the limestone. The narrow road with a gradient at times of 1 in 3.5 winds down between the limestone pinnacles with potholes and caves nearby, some of which are open so that visitors can marvel at the Blue John rocks below.
