Himalayan Balsam

Painting all day until 5pm so late Blip today.

When I got off I went for a walk down by the river where we have the scourge of Himalayan Balsam

Both river banks are contaminated with this pernicious weed, as are all the hedges for hundreds of metres either side of the river. It's seed is spread explosively when the tip of the seed pod is touched or the seed pod squeezed. You can see one in the centre of the photo, green and four sided with a red pointed end.

Apart from that the river was quite full after all this rain and the river side path quite muddy, so got sticky, muddy feet.
