Kendal Climbing Wall

Today's the day .......................... for the promise of things to come

We dropped in on the Lakeland Climbing Centre  in Kendal today - to see if they might have something suitable for a nearly two-year old.

Dominic thought that they did.  His eyes opened wide - and for two pins, he would have been up that 25m climbing wall with no need for any sort of safety harness.  Sadly, he will have to wait perhaps three years before he can really go, but we were very impressed with the facilities on hand for the serious climber.  The Centre which opened in 1995 occupies the old Milk Drying Plant in Kendal and the main wall is the tallest in England. 

Absolutely perfect for children of any age is the National Trust Allan Bank at Grasmere.  Once home to National Trust founder Canon Rawnsley and only partially decorated, this isn’t a typical National Trust experience.  You  (and the children) really can make yourself at home without worrying that anyone is going to damage a precious artefact.  The rooms are full of things for children to play with.  You can help yourself to a cup of tea, watch red squirrels as you read by the fire, or picnic on the lawn, paint or draw.

As you can see in the extra, Dominic was in his own little world doing something creative with two teapots ......................
