Beautiful plumage

Oh blow! Thirty-three shots, and not one of them properly in focus! C'est la vie, as they say. This one shows the chaffinch's beautiful colouring, if nothing else...

A busy day. Up early for a lift to Durham with our friend Andrea who, by some amazing coincidence, just happened to be going there anyway. We picked up our new (to us) car and MrM drove us home. (He's delighted with it, but afraid my enthusiasm for cars is at an all-time low.) We'd like to have stayed in Durham for a while but, as we'd left Louie home alone, it wasn't an option.

After a quick bite to eat, we went up to the Common for a short walk. Quite mild, and the birds think it's Spring. Later in the afternoon we went down to Alnmouth for a walk on the beach with Louie before a meal at Carlo's and then tackling a supermarket shop.

Slowly getting back to normal life...
