Kimbell Cottage

This derelict cottage sits just outside of the tiny town of Kimbell, on the Fairlie-Tekapo Road.
Mario & I took photos of it while we were on a day trip around Mackenzie Country and North Otago.
The temperature got to 28 deg C, so it was warm.

** THIS IS FROM A FACEBOOK FRIEND OF MARIO'S**
Behind this old house across the three springs creek was where my mother was born. The original homestead was built around the 1870's and was the house my mother lived in. It was originally owned by a Dr Kimbell who of course the town was named after. My grandfather sold up after WW2 to the government for returned solders. The land was divided up into small holdings and the original homestead which was pretty much had it was pulled down and the timber used to build the house in your photo. The original old coal range is still there and i might asked the land owners if i could have it ? A big flood came through and pretty much drowned the house and it was basically abandoned. A bit of history for your photo.
