Saturday: Joe's Cafe

The weather was pleasant enough this morning so we drove out to UBC and took a walk along Wreck Beach, following which we headed into our local neighbourhood to have a coffee - that led to a very confusing conversation in the coffeeshop as I had a voucher (coupon) for one of them.  It's my aim, during my time in Canada, to be able to order a coffee in such a way that there are no follow-up questions or confusions.  I am not quite there yet.

This evening we were invited over to Ed and Norm's for a 'cheese and wine evening'.  They are friends of H and J's and we have met them a couple of times.  We met up with H and J first for a drink in 'Biercraft' on Commercial Drive.  There was more confusion at Er and Norm's as we had been asked to bring an apple..........blame text spellcheck but they had actually meant an 'appie' (appetizer)...........luckily H and J had brought two.  Maybe they sensed our confusion.

There were 10 of us and it was amazing. It was actually a multi coursed dinner with each course being paired with a very fine wine (complete with explanations).  I had to miss out of quite a few as I was designated driver.....

This is 'Joe's', opposite 'Biercraft' - a popular longstanding venue although Joe did get himself into trouble with the LGBT community many years ago. They boycotted it when he was less than welcoming to two ladies who were in there......
