A red dinner

We spent the afternoon in Whitley Bay with daughters and grandchildren, plus nieces and their children who are a bit older but it worked well in the park, climbing and running around with aged 2 up to 12. We had to leave early though, as 7 friends were coming to eat with us.

Well so much for a balanced meal. Colourwise at least - I hadn't realised every course was so red!

Everything is made up by me - starters a beetroot humus with cumin and walnuts, main a casserole of chorizo, Simonside Sizzlers (local sausages, very spicy), chickpeas, tomatoes, roasted peppers and paprika, and the pudding was a Raspberry Bombe - a kind of ice cream with broken meringues and raspberry coulis running through it. Oh and needless to say, red wine. I'm sure red food is the new superfood!
