Listening for the Meow...

While sitting at our dinette table I heard an exceedingly faint cry of a neighborhood cat.
Tahoe no doubt heard it much more clearly than I, as he instantly became "all ears".
The two of us waited silently for the Meow to be repeated.
We were disappointed.
