Birdwatching

I went with our U3A Birdwatching Group to Sandbach Flashes in Cheshire where we hoped to see lots of wading, diving or grazing birds and more.  The list we did see in the couple of hours we were there was impressive and included:
Shell Duck, Wigeon, Tufted Duck, Teal, Mallard, Pintail, Pochard, Dabchick, Little Grebe, Goosander, Coot and Moorhen;
Godwit, Red Shank, European Grey Heron (so our Leader informed us!), Lapwing, Snipe and a Buzzard;  All of which I looked at and admired through my bins and other peoples' scopes but sadly all to far away to get any good shots of.
The Blue Tits, Great Tits, Long Tailed Tits* (my favourites), a Wren, a Robin, some Chaffinch and a Gt. Spotted Woodpecker* were a little closer and easier to take a few photos of.

The beautiful morning turned into a rather grey and drizzly afternoon but the coffees, hot chocolate and toasted tea cakes and tallying up what we saw today was a nice ending to our Group's outing.

* Another LLT and the Great Spotted Woodpecker in extras, oh! and a Highland Cow with calf.
