Linton Church

We've been here before but from the other side. This bad boy sits on the Greensand Ridge and looks over the Weald of Kent. It is one of the churches thought to have been built on the site of earlier, non-Christian, place of worship.

A short walk from the church is Linton Park which was the home of the Earls of Cornwallis and then the Barons Cornwallis until it was flogged to big business about 80 years ago. The graveyard has memorials to the Cornwallis family and there is a sundial from the parishioners with an inscription which says "in affectionate remembrance of our beloved squire" - this upon the death of the 1st Baron Cornwallis in 1935.

I've done some mappage so that you can see where this is - it isn't the Linton in North Yorkshire
