Getting around

Yes, I'm still backblipping ... this is Monday. Seems ages ago now!

I don't usually like selective colour, but I just couldn't resist this red Vespa. Scooters are very popular in Seville; one of its many nice features is that much of the centre is traffic-free except for horse-drawn carriages, bikes, and scooters.

I now know there's one time when Seville is not full of people eating and drinking: 9 a.m. on a Monday morning. The streets were very quiet apart from a few bleary-eyed Sevillanos on their way to work. We stepped into a cafe as usual for cafe con leche and tostadas; the only other customers were a couple of men who came in, downed a glass of water and a cafe solo in rapid succession , and then left with more of a spring in their step.

Our plan to visit the cathedral and the Giralda was once again frustrated as they don't open till 11 a.m. and we needed to be at the bus station. Oh well. We'll just have to come back ... shame! We did a bit of shopping (the essential bacalao) and wandering before catching the bus back to Vélez.
