Re-growth

This tree was topped a year or so ago. Topping is a barbaric practice that is not the same as pollarding. A mature tree is butchered by topping. The tree responds by desperately growing thin branches in the vain hope of putting out enough leaf area to support the huge trunk and root system. The result is that the new growth is too thin and weak to support any significant development and the new branches are prone to snapping and falling off and eventually the tree will starve to death. Any competent tree surgeon will tell you not to do it and refuse to do it as all you end up doing is having the tree eventually die and it will need felling anyway.

Work was rather dull and uneventful, noting to say, though I did manage to find 5p on my way into work, which is always a bonus!
