Great end to the week

The day overall was a good 'un.

We took our first and second year New Media students up to Summerhall today. They seemed to enjoy touring around viewing everything and were getting involved with the induction project tasks we set them. As we were touring round my colleague Alex got chatting to Robert McDowell, the owner of the building. He offered to do an impromptu talk for the students in the old anatomy theatre.

He spent over an hour talking to the students about his time at art school, his views on art, and it's relationship with design, and hopes and ambitions for the buildings and what they would get involved in.

A thoroughly decent chap, who's talk was informative and humorous. And it was fantastic of him to take the time to do that on a spur of the moment thing.

After that I met Roz and we headed to the spa for a wee bit, followed with a stop in at Wellington for a coffee for the first time in ages then down to the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop for the opening of the show to finish Natalie's stint as artist in residence at the college. It was displaying work she has developed in her time at the college. It's on for the next few days and well worth a look.

All in all a great way to finish the week at work.
