Culmstock Beacon

On this fairly grey day I was out with the local walking group.  We were exploring an area of the Blackdown Hills starting from the Wellington Monument, a 175-foot-high triangular obelisk that is visible from the M5.

It was a great walk heading down into the Culm valley with lunch at the pub in Culmstock.  Then followed a climb up to this Beehive Beacon Hut which is said to date from at least the Armada times and a ridge walk to the Wellington Monument, see extras.  A surprising easy 10 mile walk.
