A Face In The Bark

Walking through Boston Public Garden today, my eye was caught by an enormous burl on the trunk of a Belgian Elm tree (see extra).  I marveled at all the different textures and contortions, and then I noticed there was a face incorporated into the swirls on the right hand side.  With that beetling brow and weathered nose it looks a bit like a dejected King Lear on the blasted heath to me.  (And to think, I saw all this before I had a Bloody Mary with brunch!)
