Crawdad Challenge

I enjoyed a very fine bicycle ride this evening that brought me around to the Fern Ridge Bicycle Trail.

One great blue heron graciously provided a few nice photos.

By stepping from rock to rock behind it, I used a water control dam on the creek as cover while approaching the heron.

As I turned to leave I noticed this 5 inch crawdad squaring off getting ready to do battle with me.

It was a pleasure to snap his photo and to tip my hat to him for his courage in the facing down of a giant.

Large is a bit creepy:
