Corra Linn Falls

Given the hint that the falls were in spate at the weekend we visited there this morning, setting off in sunshine, which faded as we approached New Lanark. The views of the 30m (90ft) falls were indeed spectacular, unobstructed by foliage which can obscure sightings later in the season.

We walked as far as the ruin of the Bonnington Pavilion, with the date of 1707 on the ornate lintel, also known as the Hall of Mirrors, through which the falls were observed. Once a pretty building, with some remedial work it could become a delightful little belvedere.

After lunch and a wander round we headed home, but as soon as we set off the temperature dropped and we drove through blizzards - see extra - until close to home.
