It looks like the Summer is over...

I get irritated when I hear the tele-weather-mini-celebs telling me that the Summer is over and today is the first day of Autumn. Since when? Who says? Since it fits their scheduling?

When I was at infant school we made Autumn things for September 21st and Spring things for March 21st. Winter started on December 21st and Summer on June 21st. It was all about Solstices and Equinoxes, not making a convenient fit for the sake of advertisers, scheduling and tidiness. And you can bet your life there's money in it too.



The night runs away with the day
The grass that was green is now hay
The world goes around without even a sound
And it looks like the summer is over
