Pet Marjorie

Turn off Whitehouse Road, down Burn Brae towards the Cramond walkway along the river Almond, and you will see on the left hand side of the road the intriguing plaque attached to a little stretch of wall.

Who was Pet Marjorie? Why did she live such a short life? The answers are a mystery, but it is obvious that her mistress loved her and enjoyed her company at a time when Cramond was still a village on the outskirts of Edinburgh and BurnBrae was perhaps a farm or small holding.

Now the area is one of the more affluent suburbs and the walkway very popular with walkers, cyclists and the occasional horse rider.

I am minded to investigate and report back on this woman, who obviously loved her pet enough to make this commemoration.
